No membership fees for league players

As you may remember from the club AGM we are trialling a new system this year where league players do not pay a membership fee, but pay an increased match fee of £5 per match instead.  Social members continue to pay a one-off £30 for the whole season as before. This fee is due on 1 September 2024 and provides membership until 31 August 2025.

League players please note you need to register with B&DTTA Basingstoke Table Tennis Association (bdtta.org) and TTE Compete membership - Table Tennis England before playing your first match,

Please could everyone make a special effort to complete the membership forms this year as no membership fees are being paid at the beginning of the season, thank you.

Social players please see our recommendation that you take advantage of FREE membership and FREE insurance with Table Tennis England and follow this link  Club Play membership - Table Tennis England  thank you.

New Season Commences

The 2024-2025 league season begins Monday 23rd September, all league players should ensure they have renewed their Table Tennis England membership, Queen's club membership and their Basingstoke league registration. Failure to do so will result in the league confiscating points for any games won.

Social players need only renew their Queen's club membership, which is due from 1st September and runs until 31st August 2025. Pro-rata memberships may be available at the discretion of the Committee.

Queens Club has lost an old friend this month as Mick Buley passed away on the 18th November.

Mick will be known to many of us in the club for his determined style of play, which he used to defer the advancing of the years!  Our best wishes go to Mick’s family.

As well as a committed player in the local leagues, Mick was an enthusiastic spectator.  He travelled with his good friend, Brian Gridley, to the nationals in Sheffield a few times and also further afield to the Channel Islands for the Vets Grand prix in Jersey and the Vets World Championships in Spain.

Thanks for the games, Mick. We will miss you.

With Sympathy

I heard yesterday the sad news that Melvyn Lovegrove had passed away on Tuesday 18th January. Melvyn played for Queens Club for more than fifteen years before moving away from the area last year. Prior to joining Queens Club he played for Pegasus for many years. Those of us who knew him will remember a fully committed player who always tried his best for the team, playing with a broad smile whether winning or losing. He also played local cricket and football and also had a passion for photography. He would be seen at many tournaments with his camera and supplied many photos for Table Tennis England. He will be sadly missed. Rest in Peace Melvyn.

The Covid lockdown has provided us with the opportunity to refresh and refurbish the room used for both social and match play at the club - please see below for some recent photos.
